The early-bird deadline has passed, but now is the most critical time to register for the 2026 NFDA Advocacy Summit, April 15–17 in Washington, D.C. Why the urgency? Because timely registration allows NFDA to schedule meetings with Members of Congress -- the heart of the Summit and the reason your participation matters.
Why Registering Now Matters
NFDA is working to coordinate congressional meetings. Registering early helps ensure your voice — and the voice of funeral service — is heard by your elected officials.
During the 2025 Advocacy Summit, NFDA members participated in nearly 200 meetings with lawmakers and staff, sharing firsthand insight into how federal policy affects funeral homes, small businesses and the families they serve.
The sooner you register, the better NFDA can help you advocate on your profession and the families you serve.
No Advocacy Experience Required
The Advocacy Summit is open to all NFDA members — first-time advocates and seasoned participants alike.
You don’t need prior advocacy experience to make an impact. If you care about the future of funeral service and the families we serve, your voice belongs on Capitol Hill.
NFDA ensures every attendee is prepared with issue briefings, talking points and onsite support so you can advocate with confidence.
Issues That Matter
During the 2026 Summit, members will advocate on legislation that directly affects funeral service, including:
- The Consensual Donation & Research Integrity Act (S.1270 / H.R. 2589), which would establish federal safeguards to prevent the unethical trafficking of human remains
- The Funeral Coverage Act (H.R. 2436), which is aimed at designating funeral expenses as a qualified expense for HSAs, and easing financial impact on families
- Tax and veterans burial benefit issues impacting funeral homes and families
Every meeting educates policymakers — and every participant strengthens NFDA’s advocacy impact.
Three Days of Purposeful Engagement
Hosted at the historic Mayflower Hotel, the Summit includes:
- Wednesday, April 15: Welcome Session, Issues Briefing and Reception
- Thursday, April 16: Capitol Hill meetings and optional city tour
- Friday, April 17: Optional wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery
