For early-career funeral professionals, opportunities to learn directly from respected leaders, build confidence and shape a long-term career path don’t come along often. NFDA’s Meet the Mentors program is one of them and the window to apply is closing soon. Applications for the 2026 Meet the Mentors program, taking place April 14–17, 2026, in Washington, D.C., are open through January 12, 2026.
This highly regarded program brings together 25 emerging funeral directors and embalmers with accomplished mentors from across the profession for meaningful conversations about leadership, career growth and the future of funeral service. Participants also take part in NFDA’s Advocacy Summit, gaining hands-on experience meeting with members of Congress and learning how to advocate for the profession and the families it serves.
Thanks to the generous support of the Funeral Service Foundation, selected participants receive:
- Registration for Meet the Mentors and the Advocacy Summit
- Three nights of lodging
- A $500 travel reimbursement stipend
Past participants consistently describe Meet the Mentors as a career-defining experience; one that builds confidence, expands perspective and creates lasting professional connections.
Eligible applicants must be NFDA members who are licensed funeral directors or embalmers and either 40 years old or younger or within their first five years of licensure.
If you know a rising leader who would benefit from mentorship, advocacy experience and meaningful peer connections — or if that sounds like you — now is the time to apply.
Submit your entry by January 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CT at NFDA.org/Mentors.
Selected participants will be announced in February 2026.
