ban order issued December 26, 2024, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has vacated its own stay of the Eastern District of Texas’s preliminary injunction of enforcement of the deadline for reporting under the Corporate Transparency Act.
The Fifth Circuit said that, “in order to preserve the constitutional status quo while the merits panel considers the parties’ weighty substantive arguments, that part of the motions-panel order granting the Government’s motion to stay the district court’s preliminary injunction enjoining enforcement of the CTA and the Reporting Rule is VACATED.”
This means that, as of right now, the filing deadline, which had been moved to January 13, is off.
This is not a final ruling and subject to change. Stay tuned!
