NFDA is assisting the Department of Defense (DoD) in recruiting funeral service professionals to join the DoD Mortuary Inspection Team. As a civilian consultant, you will accompany the DoD mortuary inspection team on its biennial inspection of each of the DoD mortuary facilities and preparation points. You will serve as a civilian industry expert to the DoD and provide independent recommendations on mortuary processes and program improvements. Ability to travel oversees is a requirement.
Other details include:
- The incumbent will be an intermittent Special Government Employee within the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy.
- They will serve on the DoD Mortuary Inspection Team, with responsibility for inspecting DoD mortuaries within the United States (Dover Air Force Base, Delaware) and outside the continental United States (Korea, Guam, Japan, Germany, Spain, Italy and Cuba).
- This position requires expertise in and knowledge of mortuary procedures and operations, as well as compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Center for Disease Control guidelines.
- This position will require a commitment of about 35 days a year (not to exceed 50 days) and travel to the locations mentioned above.
- Inspection criteria are provided and will be covered during onboarding and training.
- The Government will provide a passport, travel expenses and salary.
