In response to evolving circumstances, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has transitioned to issuing respiratory virus guidance, consolidating recommendations for various respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19. According to the latest update, individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 are advised to remain at home until they have been fever-free without medication for a minimum of 24 hours and their symptoms have shown improvement for at least 24 hours. Once these criteria are met, individuals may resume regular activities.
The CDC strongly recommends continued precautionary measures for the subsequent five days, however, such as enhancing ventilation, wearing masks, and minimizing close contact with others, in order to mitigate the risk of viral transmission. For comprehensive information on managing COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses, the CDC developed a dedicated Respiratory Virus Guidance page on its website, covering topics such as COVID-19, RSV, influenza and more.
