The American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) engages in a review of the Accreditation Standards for mortuary science programs every five years. The most recent review process, which began in Summer/Fall 2022, generated a number of recommended changes; click here to review the proposed changes.
ABFSE previously asked funeral service professionals to share comments on any aspect of the proposed revisions to the Accreditation Standards.

Final approval of the Accreditation Standards is scheduled for the ABFSE Annual Meeting on April 12, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts.
