More than 40 years ago, when the FTC was holding hearings that would eventually lead to the promulgation of the Funeral Rule, the image of the funeral service profession was under attack. NFDA established the Pursuit of Excellence Program to tell the story of funeral homes and funeral service professionals who were serving families with distinction and compassion and engaging with their communities in meaningful ways.
Today, as the FTC is once again reexamining the Funeral Rule – and some media and consumer advocacy groups are painting an unfair portrait of funeral homes – the need to remind the public of the ways funeral homes care for grieving families and communities has never been more important.
The Pursuit of Excellence Program enables you to change the way the public views you and remind your community of the ways in which your funeral home is a vital part of the community.
The NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Program is an outstanding way to acknowledge the remarkable service, compassion and professionalism shown by your staff each and every day. Chances are, you’ve already fulfilled many of the requirements and have the required documentation on-file. So make sure you document your achievements and submit your entry by 11:59 p.m. CT on July 15.
