Update - Uvalde, Texas: Community Resources

May 26, 2022

 Updated June 1, 2022

To say that all of us are deeply saddened by the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, seems inadequate given the tremendous loss of so many innocent lives. Our hearts are with the individuals and families who have been impacted by this terrible act, especially the families who are grieving the death of a loved one.

Funeral service professionals in Texas, particularly those in the Uvalde area, are becoming personally involved with this tragedy, organizing efforts to support families during their time of grief. NFDA thanks these funeral professionals for the care and compassion they are demonstrating to families and their beloved community of Uvalde.

The funeral homes in Uvalde have committed to offering funerals at no charge to the families; several vendors are providing merchandise at no charge.

NFDA has reached out to the Texas Funeral Directors Association and the funeral homes in Uvalde to offer support as they serve victims’ families. We have also sent grief resources to Uvalde to assist families as they begin to grapple with their loss.

NFDA is committed to helping you navigate the challenges of helping families and communities heal following the heartbreaking events in Uvalde. We’ve gathered resources to help you better serve families during this unfathomably difficult time.

Thanks to the generosity of the Funeral Service Foundation, all materials will be offered at no charge.

Please contact us at 800-228-6332 for more information about available resources, to place an order, or if we can assist you in other ways.

Thank you for all you do to support families and communities.

The Funeral Service Foundation announced that it will deploy up to $50,000 in emergency assistance and grief support funding, and is now accepting donations for its Crisis Response Fund in the wake of Tuesday’s mass shooting, which left 19 children and two adults dead in Uvalde, Texas. Texas Funeral Directors Association

The TFDA has been getting inquiries from funeral homes and individuals across the country on how they can help the families affected by the tragedy in Uvalde.
