On June 17, OSHA released an emergency temporary standard (ETS) for COVID-19 that healthcare employers must follow. At the same time, OSHA concurrently issued updated, non-mandatory COVID-19 guidance for non-healthcare employers – this does apply to funeral service.
OSHA’s updated guidance to assist non-healthcare employers (including funeral homes) in other industries permits employers to follow CDC guidance as it applies to vaccinated individuals; this explicitly includes allowing vaccinated workers to resume work without masks or physical distancing, if otherwise permitted by state and local law. Read the updated guidance here.
