Funeral professionals around the world united to observe World United for Life Day on September 20, 2020, a day commemorating the unique lives of those who have died and celebrating the unique stories of people who are still living.
World United for Life Day was established in 2012 by ALPAR (Asociación Gremial Latinoamericana de Cemeterios y Servicios Funerarios), an association of funeral directors and cemeterians in Latin America. Tens of thousands of people around the world participated in World United for Life Day events.
This year, according to event organizers, the event took on even greater significance as it was dedicated to families who were not able to have the funeral they wanted due to the pandemic. Organizers also recognized the work of funeral professionals who continue to care for grieving families in spite of the challenges presented by the pandemic.
