The President signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) on March 18, 2020. It is an economic stimulus plan aimed at addressing the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on Americans and introducing paid sick leave and an expanded family and medical leave act to the nation’s employers. The leave provisions went into effect on April 1, 2020.
Did you know, each covered employer - generally, any business with fewer than 500 employees - must post a notice of the FFCRA requirements in a conspicuous place on its premises. An employer may satisfy this requirement by emailing or direct mailing this notice to employees or posting this notice on an employee information internal or external website through December 31, 2020 (unless extended by the federal government).
