Re: Resolution to Amend NFDA Bylaws
These are unprecedented times. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our lives and changed priorities at every association and business. In 2020, we have devoted significant time and resources to assisting members who are dealing with disruption, loss and death resulting from the novel Coronavirus, along with the everyday business needs of our members.
As you know, beginning in March, the pandemic caused NFDA and most state associations to cancel all in-person meetings, workshops and seminars, including the Advocacy Summit, the Leadership Conference and the International Convention & Expo. Unfortunately, the pandemic also prevented us from meeting and connecting with you, our member, at state conventions throughout the country. We so enjoy meeting you in your home state, learning from you and providing you with an update from your national association.
As such, we are respectfully asking that the current members of the Board of Directors be provided an additional year to serve you in our existing board positions. To implement this change, members will need to vote on the attached resolution to amend the Bylaws of the National Funeral Directors Association. This proposed amendment to the NFDA Bylaws is sponsored and supported by the entire NFDA Board of Directors.
Per Article XIV of the NFDA Bylaws, eligible members will have a 30-day window to vote after the proposed amendment to the Bylaws is submitted to the membership. YesElections, on behalf of NFDA, will e-mail eligible firm members and individual members a link to the NFDA voting site where they can cast their vote electronically. Eligible members can also log in to NFDA’s website and go to the voting site. If NFDA does not have an e-mail address for a firm member or individual member, YesElections will send them a postcard with credentials and instructions for voting online. Firm members have two votes and each individual member has one vote. To pass, the amendment needs a two-thirds majority of all the votes that are cast. Voting will begin September 14 at 9 a.m. and end October 13 at 5 p.m. (All times are Eastern Daylight Time.)
In addition to the resolution, a Q & A is also available for your information. Please contact Christine Pepper, CEO, or any member of the Board of Directors with any questions you may have.
