NFDA has a limited quantity of FFP2 face masks available for member funeral homes courtesy of the Terrybear Urns & Memorials. FFP2 masks are recognized by the CDC as an alternative to N95 masks,
This recognition is based on “NPPTL (The National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory) Respirator Assessments to Support the COVID-19 Response.” NPPTL completed International Assessments. For results, visit https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/respirators/testing/NonNIOSHresults.html.
These assessments were developed as an assessment of the filter efficiency for those respirators represented as certified by an international certification authority, other than NIOSH, to support the availability of respiratory protection to US healthcare workers and other workers due to the respirator shortage associated with COVID-19.
Europe uses two different standards. The “filtering face piece” score (FFP) comes from EN standard 149:2001. The EN 143 standard covers P1/P2/P3 ratings. Both standards are maintained by CEN (European Committee for Standardization). As you can see below, the closest European equivalents to N95 are FFP2 & P2 rated respirators.
Respirator: FFP2 & P2
Standard Filter Capacity: Removes 94% of all particles that are 0.3 microns in diameter or larger
Respirator: N95
Standard Filter Capacity: Removes 95% of all particles that are 0.3 microns in diameter or larger
NFDA has consulted with sources in the embalming industry and has been told the FFP2 masks can be used for embalming. As always, it’s an individual decision whether or not to use these masks to embalm COVID-19 cases.
NFDA member funeral homes may order ten (10) masks free of charge (one order per funeral home) and only pay $7.50 shipping. (International orders will be charged the actual cost of shipping from NFDA to the “ship to” location.)
Orders from members will be accepted via email, fax or phone using the order form (click to view). You will need a valid credit card and the information on the order form to place your order.

This is a limited time offer, while supplies last. First come, first served. If you are in a COVID-19 “hot spot,” please inquire about additional quantities.
