During this time when so many funeral homes are overwhelmed with COVID-19 deaths as well as the usual death rate, NFDA is doing everything possible to assist you. As you may know, NFDA is actively working every day with the White House, Congress, CDC, DHS, HHS, FEMA, DoD, DMORT, State Governors, the National Governors Association, hospitals, coroners and medical examiners, and many other entities to assist NFDA members and to advocate on your behalf

Recently, NFDA has sent many letters to all levels of government addressing the importance of funeral service. On April 9th, NFDA sent a letter to Minority Leader Chuck Schumer requesting that we be included in the HEROES Fund. Read the letter here

What is the HEROES Fund?

Like many other small businesses throughout the nation, we fear the financial impact of COVID-19 will result in funeral homes being forced to downsize their workforce or even shut their doors, hindering their abilities to handle the increased death rate and impacting the economic health of the communities they serve. The HEROES Fund would provide much-needed funds that will enable funeral businesses to continue serving families and communities long after this crisis has passed.

NFDA also sent a separate letter to congressional leadership requesting that funeral service be considered in any COVID stimulus legislation. There are several COVID bills being introduced in Congress, and you can be assured NFDA is continuing to monitor all COVID bills as they move through Congress and advocating at the highest levels on your behalf.
