If you’ve recently called the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) to receive eligibility determinations or schedule burials for veterans or their family members, you may have experienced delays or dropped calls. The NCA is taking steps to remedy the situation and issued the following statement:
The National Cemetery Administration relies on you to assist us in meeting the burial needs of Veterans and family members as we honor them with final resting places in national shrines. We realize that in the past month it has become increasingly difficult to get through to our scheduling office to receive eligibility determinations and to schedule burials. We apologize for the delays you are experiencing and we are actively working to improve this service.
To be more responsive to our customers, the National Cemetery Administration is taking immediate action to address this issue and reduce the delays and dropped calls. These interim measures will be used until we restore our normal response time to all your calls. Please continue to call the national scheduling office phone number (1-800-535-1117) to schedule interments.
We apologize that we have not been able to provide you the highest quality of customer service that Veterans and their families deserve. We are working diligently to correct this situation. We will provide updates as soon as possible and appreciate your patience.
Thank you for being our partner in serving Veterans and their families.
