Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science has announced that construction has officially begun on its Educational Cremation Center (ECC), a facility that will become the cutting-edge enterprise, taking the college, its students and deathcare professionals boldly into the future.

“Our team has intentionally and meticulously brought a multi-decades-long vision to fruition with the innovation and development of the only educational center of its kind in the United States,” said Jack E. Lechner Jr., the college’s president and CEO. “FT-USA [Facultatieve Technologies] is providing the FT-III cremator, hydraulic loader and dustless processing station free of charge to the college, and we are grateful for their generous support.”

The ECC is the centerpiece of CCMS’ Transforming Deathcare Education initiative, whose goal is to provide students and practitioners with hands-on opportunity to participate in advanced cremation operations. The expanded curriculum will incorporate the preparation and viewing of remains without embalming, and slumber room viewing to encourage participation in the cremation process. Curriculum will expand on the growing need for full-service pet loss care and green disposition with hands-on alkaline hydrolysis or flameless cremation training.
