The nonprofit Phaneuf Family Foundation awarded its first scholarship to Nicole Judge, a funeral services student at FINE Mortuary College. A resident of Peterborough, she also works as an apprentice with Jellison Funeral Home in Peterborough and Cournoyer Funeral Home in Jaffrey. Judge previously worked in the social services field after earning a psychology degree from Keene State University.

“We received a number of applications and were very impressed with Nicole based on her submitted essays, GPA and career focus,” commented Arthur O. “Buddy” Phaneuf, president of Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium and a foundation trustee and chairman of the board. “It’s important – and exciting – to help support the next generation of funeral industry professionals.”

Formed in 2019, the Phaneuf Family Foundation offers $1,000 scholarships to students currently accepted at or attending funeral service college. Students may apply at any time at phaneuffoundation.org; scholarships are awarded in December each year and sent directly to the school.
