Galloway & Sons Funeral Home’s (Beeville) 100th anniversary event was a tremendous success. The original funeral home, Galloway Mortuary, was located in Skidmore and began operations in 1919. The funeral home moved to Beeville in 1932. John Galloway III and wife Elizabeth inherited the business from his father and grandfather and have been operating the funeral home since the 1970s.

Galloway & Sons hosted a community-wide event November 19 in which the Bee County Veterans’ Honor Guard performed a three-volley salute and Taps, and a flag-raising on a newly dedicated flagpole honored members of the Guard and their service. Proclamations were given by Mayor Francisco Dominguez, Judge Stephanie Moreno and Sen. Judith Zaffirini, and special letters from representatives of Sen. John Cornyn and U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela were presented. Clergy from four local churches aided in the program.

Galloway was recognized for his community involvement, having served as a city councilman (1970) and as mayor (1972-82). The city has named the new Bee Area Partnership headquarters building after Galloway and declared November 19 Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Day. gallowayandsons.com
