On January 23, the team at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes (St. Petersburg) joined Mayor Kenneth T. Welch to unveil a nearly $1 million reinvestment in the Tyrone Family Tribute Center at 7820 38th Avenue North. The project preserves the funeral home’s legacy of delivering dignity, choice and affordability during life’s most difficult moments. It also ensures Anderson-McQueen can continue to meet the evolving needs of Pinellas County families.

Although the renovation was initiated to address damage caused by Hurricane Milton in October 2024, Anderson-McQueen viewed the project as an opportunity to strengthen the facility for the future. The renovation introduced a cohesive design approach, resulting in an environment that is durable, consistent and purpose-driven. The redesigned spaces go far beyond what residents would expect from a traditional funeral home and include a thoughtfully designed area for children of all ages, improved facilities for pet-cremation services, and an upgraded care and cremation-viewing center.

During the grand reopening celebration and open house, community members and local leaders toured the newly renovated facility. Additionally, St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Chris Steinocher, Mayor Welch and Anderson-McQueen leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included brief remarks. The event had a silent auction to help the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care expand its services to Pinellas County, as well.
