G. Scott Smith
retired funeral director, Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Homes, Worthington, Ohio, died June 11, 2023, at age 73. Smith attended Kent State and Cleveland State universities. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic in Germany before returning home to continue his education. During high school and the years following, Smith began his career at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home.
After graduating from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Smith served for more than 40 years at a family-owned funeral home in Columbus, and he served most recently at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Homes & Crematories in Worthington before retiring due to health issues. He served his community as a member and past commander of American Legion Post 82, member and past president of Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Clintonville Fourth of July Inc. celebrations for many years. Smith was also a member of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and was a Clintonville Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year.
He is survived by wife Jennifer; sons Adam and Matthew; brothers Robert, owner and funeral director, Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar, and Jeffrey, funeral director at Smith-Varns Funeral Home, Sugarcreek; and sister Kim.
