Delayne G. “Dee” Deitloff
retired funeral director and former co-owner, Home for Funerals, Norfolk; Resseguie Funeral Home, Madison; and Steffen Mortuary, Battle Creek, Nebraska, died April 24, 2023, at age 88.
Other than during his Army military service and the time needed to attain his mortuary education, Deitloff lived his entire life in Norfolk. He attended Norfolk Junior College and Cypress College of Mortuary Science in California. He was a member of the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association, NFDA and International Order of the Golden Rule. Deitloff was a licensed funeral director for more than 40 years.
He was president of the Sertoma Club (1971-72); the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce (1980); Norfolk YMCA, where he served several years on the board; and Northeast Community College Foundation (1998-02). He was proud of his military service and was a member of American Legion and a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He drove the VA van for years, taking vets to their medical appointments at the VA Hospital in Omaha.
He is survived by son Jon, a funeral director at Tobias Funeral Home, Dayton, Ohio, and past president of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association; daughter Kim; five grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and sisters Arla and Sharon.
