Larry J. Sevier

funeral director and former owner, Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, Oklahoma, died October 4, 2021, at age 76. Sevier began working at Sevier Funeral Home at age 10 and received his funeral director and embalmer’s license in 1967. In 1976, Sevier and his wife purchased Sevier Funeral Home.

He was involved in Little League baseball and Mighty Mite, started a Little Dribblers basketball program and was directly involved with USAO basketball the first couple of years after it began. Sevier himself was able to play full-court basketball until age 60.

He served with the Kiwanis, Chisholm Trail Committee, Chamber of Commerce, City Planning Commission and Library Board. He received awards for Boss of the Year and Outstanding Man of the Year, along with four NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Awards.

Sevier was most grateful that he was able to work alongside his family and looked forward to summers in which his grandsons were able to work alongside him. Sevier is survived by daughter April and three grandsons.
