Death Notices

Please email death notices to obits@nfda.org. Please include complete information, along with a contact name and telephone number. If a death notice has been published online, please include a link to it.

If you are notifying us of the death of an immediate family member, state their relationship to the funeral director and affiliation to the funeral home.

Death notices will be considered for publication on the NFDA website and in The Director magazine as space allows.

Michael 'Mike' J. Staples

Michael 'Mike' J. Staples, age 64 of Alexandria passed away unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon, October 6, 2016 at his home in Alexandria, MN. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN. Visitation hours will begin on Tuesday, October 11 from 4 - 8 pm also at Calvary Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. 

Mike is survived by his wife, Liz Staples of Alexandria; his children and spouses, Chris (Kate) Staples of Morgantown, W Virginia, Jen (Will) Comparore of Seattle, WA, Steph Staples of New York, NY and Ben (Beth) Staples of Alexandria; 7 grandchildren, Will, Lilly and Henry Staples, Clovis Comparore, Aidan, Caleb and Emily Staples; siblings, John (Kate) Staples of Minneapolis, Donna (Jon) Layman of Herman, MO, Sharon (Ed) Horertz of Mankato, Mary Kay (Lyle) Hanna of Eden Prairie, Kathy (Scott) LaRose of Eagan, Bob (Jane) Staples of Eden Prairie, MN; many nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillian (Frese) Staples.
