Death Notices

Please email death notices to obits@nfda.org. Please include complete information, along with a contact name and telephone number. If a death notice has been published online, please include a link to it.

If you are notifying us of the death of an immediate family member, state their relationship to the funeral director and affiliation to the funeral home.

Death notices will be considered for publication on the NFDA website and in The Director magazine as space allows.

Danferd C. “Dan” Avis

Danferd C. “Dan” Avis, funeral director and former executive director, Foresight Family Funeral Homes, Cleveland, Ohio, died July 9, 2016. Avis was a consummate organizer and volunteer in many community activities. He served as president of the Cleveland State University Alumni Association, where he was also a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. Avis was a past president of OGR and an elder at his church. He is survived by children Gregory, Todd and Susan; eight grandchildren; and sister Beverly.
