OSHA

NEW! On January 29, 2021, OSHA released a guideline titled, Protecting Workers: Guidance on Mitigating and Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 in the Workplace. All employers must have a COVID-19 Prevention Program in place. Endorsed Provider partner Certified Satefty Training has developed a guide to help you understand how to comply with this new guidance.

Protect your employees and your business by complying with safety and health-related workplace practices, including compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens, Formaldehyde, and Hazardous Materials Standards.

Did you know that according to OSHA regulations, nearly every employer - including funeral homes - is required to have an Emergency Action Plan (EAP)? An EAP establishes the steps that employees should take to respond to an emergency in the workplace.

NFDA has developed a comprehensive template with accompanying instructions to help you create an EAP for your funeral home. Get started today:

  • Implementing a Funeral Home Emergency Action Plan
  • Emergency Action Plan Template for Funeral Homes

Members of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), as well as non-members, have access to detailed funeral home OSHA training and resource materials provided by Certified Safety Training (CST), the leader in funeral home OSHA programs.

OSHA Compliance Programs

OSHA Compliance Programs gives funeral home owners and managers a comprehensive overview of the requirements of select health and safety standards. Each program come with a written compliance plan, including recordkeeping requirements, fact sheets, customizable forms and other resources; a walk-through of the plan for the funeral home owner or manager via Zoom; and a staff training video (15-30 minutes; no CE).

Certified Safety Training offers all of the mandatory Funeral Home OSHA safety programs including:

  • Emergency Action and Fire Safety Program
  • Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Program
  • Hazard Communication Program
  • Formaldehyde Exposure Control Program
  • Respiratory Protection Program
  • Personal Protective Equipment Program
  • Spill Response Program

NFDA members save $100 on OSHA Compliance Programs!  Each program costs $295 for members and $395 for nonmembers. For more information about each program and to purchase, visit the NFDA store.

OSHA Safety Audit

Funeral home owners and managers interested in a top-to-bottom look at where they excel as it comes to health and safety compliance or how they may improve, should consider CST's OSHA Safety Audit. The in-person experience includes an onsite inspection at the funeral home, a corrective action plan, staff training on the Blood-borne Pathogens and Hazard Communication Standards, and more.

The audit is specially priced at $1,595 for NFDA members (non-member pricing is $1,995).
