Webinars Frequently Asked Questions

Distance learning is an economical way to bring the most current and important business information and best practices in funeral service to you and your staff. Courses by national experts meet your professional development and CE needs – without the expense of travel.

NFDA webinars are live events! Join the conversation with instructors and other funeral directors – right in your office or from your mobile device!

All NFDA courses and events are approved for continuing education by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP), most state boards, and by many Canadian provinces. NFDA webinars are approved for up to 2 CE hours.

State CE approval varies, and it is the individual participant's responsibility before registering for any NFDA course or event to verify that it is currently approved for CE in the state(s) in which the individual is licensed.

Quickly and easily see if your state has approved an NFDA webinar by searching for courses in your state.

Registration to an NFDA teleconference or webinar entitles your firm to connect to the live event and also entitles the first registrant to CE eligibility for participating.

Additional registrants pay a CE processing fee and must be pre-registered for the event. The fee does not entitle additional registrants to additional connections to the event.

Occasionally a free CE event is offered: the first registrant is free; additional registrants are required to pay a fee for their CE processing. A few NFDA distance learning events each year are free informational offerings that do not confer CE.

It's a great idea to include all your staff in NFDA live distance learning events! For additional participants other than the first registrant who require CE, there is a processing fee per additional registrant. All individuals who wish to earn CE for an event must be pre-registered.

NFDA educational courses and events are approved for CE hours by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP), most state boards, and many Canadian provinces. NFDA teleconferences and webinars are approved for up to 2 CE hours.

To receive CE credit for an NFDA webinar, you must formally attest to your participation when the program is over by completing and signing the NFDA CE Attendance Record for the event. The Attendance Record must be signed by the funeral home owner or manager and submitted by fax, mail or by scanning and emailing the signed form to NFDA. The form is included as a downloadable document with the handout for each event.

NFDA processes CE participation as required by state boards. Note that we cannot apply for CE for you without your signature and license number(s) on the Attendance Record, verified by your employer.

NFDA additionally confirms participation through webinar records from the broadcasting company. If there are discrepancies, you will be contacted. Licensing boards require full participation in an event to earn CE; no partial CE credit is permitted.

Within 10 business days following the event, your CE certificate will be sent to the email address submitted with your registration. When required, your state licensing board will also receive CE verification from NFDA within that time. Contact NFDA at 800-288-6332 with any questions about the CE reporting process.

Yes, there is a discounted member fee for first registrants and a separate fee per additional registrant who wants CE. Fees are listed with each event on this website.

Occasionally a free CE event is offered: the first registrant is free; additional registrants are required to pay a fee for their CE processing. A few NFDA distance learning events each year are free informational offerings that do not confer CE.

You have 3 easy options!

  1. Register online. Go to webinars, select an event and register online using your credit card.

  2. Fax or email registration form. Go to webinars, select an event, download the registration form and submit it by fax, with credit card information, to NFDA at 1-262-789-6977. Or email a scanned version of the registration form with credit card information to NFDA at nfda@nfda.org.

  3. Call NFDA at 800-228-6332 (+1-262-789-1880) to register.

Your individual email address is required no matter how you register, whether you are a first registrant or additional registrant, to enable NFDA to process your CE. Instructions for participating and CE certificates are sent via email. If you register using another person's email, you will not receive CE credit.

NFDA members are entitled to discounted member fees for all events. If you're not a member, call an NFDA member services representative to join today at 800-228-6332. Take advantage of this and other cost-saving and business-building benefits for members only!

Register early to ensure that you receive instructions and handout materials in time. You can register up to a few hours before the event (see specific event registration form). While we will make every effort to accommodate you as our valued member, we cannot guarantee that late registrants will receive instructions to connect to an event on time due to circumstances that may be beyond our control.

Yes. A unique email address is required for all registrants (both first registrants and additional registrants). The firm's general email address or the email address of another person are not acceptable.

If you don't have a personal email address, there are a number of free email service providers such as Hotmail (www.hotmail.com), Gmail (www.gmail.com) or Yahoo! (www.yahoomail.com). Simply create a new personal account to send and receive email via the Internet.

  1. You will receive a confirmation email from NFDA at the time of registration that confirms receipt of your registration and payment.
  2. You will receive emailed instructions from NFDA several days in advance of the teleconference or webinar, including links to the downloadable handout that includes event materials and the CE Attendance Record.

If you don't receive confirmation after registering, first double check that you have submitted the correct email address with your registration. Please contact nfda@nfda.org or call 800-228-6332 with questions.

If you are registered but haven't received your instructions 24 hours before the event begins, first double check that you have submitted the correct email address with your registration. Contact nfda@nfda.org or call 800-228-6332 so that we may assist you.

Please call NFDA at 800-228-6332 for assistance.

NFDA webinars are live educational sessions that occur online, led by the funeral service experts you want to hear. GoToWebinar is used to deliver NFDA webinars. Participants, at their computers, view a PowerPoint presentation led by the expert, participate in live audience polls, and may submit questions.

You will have two options to listen to the event:

  • Over your computer’s Internet audio connection (VoIP).
  • Using your telephone (if your computer speakers do not deliver the sound quality you want); the phone number, access code, and audio PIN are provided onscreen after you log on to the webinar.
Webinars are scheduled 1-2 p.m. or 1-3 p.m. U.S. Central Time (check your local time).
  • A first registration entitles your firm to a single connection and CE for the first registrant only. There is a separate fee per additional registrants requesting CE. All registrants must have a personal email address to register.

  • After your registration is processed, one or two days in advance of the webinar you will receive an instructions email from NFDA with links to:

    • Confirm/complete your webinar registration with GoToMeeting (important!). When you have confirmed your registration you will immediately receive a GoToMeeting confirmation email with a unique link (that cannot be shared) that you will use to access the webinar on the day of the event. Save your confirmation email!

    • Download a PDF master handout and CE Attendance Record for printing. The first registrant has permission to make handout copies for all other participants (whether registered or not).

On the day of the webinar, 10-15 minutes prior to the webinar start time, open your GoToWebinar confirmation email and click on the webinar link provided. If prompted, click Yes, Grant or Trust to accept the GoToWebinar download.

After you've logged on to the webinar, audio information is provided in your onscreen Control Panel.

Most events do have printable handouts. After your registration has been processed, and usually one or two days in advance of the webinar, you will receive an instruction email from NFDA with a link to the event handout.

In most cases the handout is a PDF that includes webinar materials and the CE Attendance Record form. You are encouraged to print and distribute the handout to all participants before the event.

Most webinars are recorded; this will be announced at the beginning of the event. Recordings may or may not be subsequently available for CE. Contact NFDA for information about specific events.

Absolutely! For webinars, you can log on from a room with projection equipment to bring the presentation to a group or allow others to view the presentation on your computer screen.

Joining the event as a listener or viewer is free to additional staff that do not require CE; there is a separate fee per additional participants requesting CE.

You are able to participate if you have a unique email address and your computer is compatible with GoToWebinar. For webinar audio reception, international registrants must use their computer speakers (a telephone dial-in option is not available).

Select webinars are recorded; this will be announced at the beginning of the event. Recordings may or may not be subsequently available for CE. Contact NFDA for information about specific events.

Emailed instructions for the event include technical assistance information.

Cancellation fees may apply. All cancellations must be in writing and emailed in advance to nfda@nfda.org or faxed to NFDA in advance at 262-789-6977. See specific event registration forms for details. No-shows will not be refunded for any reason including non-participation due to conflicts that arise with a registrant's schedule, failure to test the computer connection prior to the seminar as instructed or other technical difficulties that are not in the control of NFDA or the company broadcasting the program.

NFDA reserves the right to cancel or postpone a program due to circumstances beyond its control. Should circumstances arise that result in the cancellation or postponement of a program, registrants will have the option to either receive a full registration refund or transfer registration to the same program at a later date or another program within the same calendar year. NFDA's liability for any cancellation is limited to a refund of the registration fee and does not extend to any other claims including, but not limited to, travel expenses, cancellation fees, lost wages, inconvenience, and other related costs.

If your organization is interested in sponsoring an NFDA live distance learning event (more than 20 are offered each year), please call 800-228-6332 for details and an explanation of sponsorship benefits to your firm.
