For Immediate Release: October 6, 2023
Brookfield, Wis. – As consumer attitudes and opinions toward dying, death and grief continue to evolve, it’s critical that the funeral service profession rethink its approach and explore how it can create meaningful end-of-life experiences for individuals and families. To that end, the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) has begun engaging in a dialogue with End Well (www.endwellproject.org), a nonprofit dedicated to the belief that all people should experience the end of life in a way that matches their values and goals. As NFDA embarks on this new relationship, it is pleased to be a Community Partner in the End Well Symposium 2023, taking place November 16 in Los Angeles; NFDA members are invited to register at a specially discounted price.
“NFDA offers our members the information and tools they need to serve grieving families,” said NFDA CMO Stephanie Wagner. “As we continue to build a partnership with End Well, we will be able to expand our members' perspectives on death, loss and grief, and explore how they can work in solidarity with other professionals involved in caring for the dying, the dead and the bereaved.”
End Well was founded in 2017 by Dr. Shoshana Ungerleider based on her conviction that dying isn’t a medical issue, it’s a human issue. The nonprofit brings together a community that unites design, technology, health, policy and activist initiatives to transform how the world thinks about caregiving, grief, illness and the end-of-life experience with the ultimate goal of creating a future in which ending well becomes a measure of living well.
End Well’s fresh perspective and commitment to infusing wonder, joy and hope into these conversations, while also tackling difficult questions, has resulted in the organization becoming the most widely known and respected global community at the intersection of popular culture and healthcare with a focus on end of life, grief, loss, caregiving, and associated health and welfare challenges.
