Let's start with the basics:
- All Advocacy efforts are based on a 2-year time frame that coincides with each new Congress
- Legislation will be introduced at the beginning of each new Congress and will be the main focus of NFDA's advocacy efforts for the entire 2-year cycle. (unless the legislation passes before that session of Congress ends)
- Congressional Schedules dictate when legislation supported by NFDA is introduced
We become your voice by taking a position on issues that impact funeral service as a whole. NFDA focuses on federal legislation and regulation that has a nation wide impact and by being non-partisan, we work with anyone who supports funeral service.
Choosing the Issues of Focus
Considering the many issues that impact funeral service and small business and the many others that do not directly affect our profession, you may wonder how NFDA decides which legislative and regulatory issues to focus on at any given time. We sort through the chaos in three simple steps:
- NFDA’s Advocacy Committee constantly monitors/evaluates the issues
- Selected issues are presented to the NFDA Board of Directors for a vote
- Upon approval, NFDA’s Advocacy team takes its legislative and regulatory agenda to Capitol Hill
