  • Family Support Services Scholarship Award Application:
    CFDA annually awards eight (8) $500 scholarships (one in each Connecticut county) to students interested in pursuing careers in a profession that provides emotional or medical support to families. Deadline for scholarships is April 8 of each year
  • Mortuary Science Scholarship Award Application:
    This scholarship Award program has been established to support the commitment by providing $1000 in scholarship funds to be awarded to qualified students whose plans are to complete their education in an accredited mortuary science school and serve the public in their chosen profession in the state of Connecticut.

The Association receives multiple donations each year for scholarships. A minimum of $3,000 will be given each year. Funeral Services, Inc. (FSI) has established a scholarship fund in the name of Doug Stowell and will award two scholarships per year at $500 each. Service Corporations, Inc. (SCI) has established a scholarship fund and will award four scholarships per year at $500 each (totaling $2,000). IFDA offers one $2,000 scholarship and three $1000 scholarships. Three are through the foundation: The Isaac Ball Scholarship ($2,000). The Executive Director scholarship ($1,000), and the Foundation scholarship ($1,000 ). The association offers one $1,000 Frank W. Moore Scholarship. Student must fill out the Scholarship Application Form (available on website) and then apply for any of the separate scholarships by following the submission instructions for each scholarship. Must be legal Iowa resident and intend to practice funeral service in Iowa upon graduation, have completed two years and have accumulated 60 credits at an accredited college or university; be enrolled in and attending a program in funeral service or mortuary science education accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Students in coordinated programs are only eligible for an award during a period of attendance at the American Board accredited program; have at least one term or semester remaining in his/her program which will commence after the award date in order to be considered for an award.

Jack G. Dodds Scholarship 
The Jack G. Dodds Scholarship is one scholarship of $1,000. To be eligible, students must meet the above requirements and have been admitted to or enrolled in the mortuary science program at Des Moines Area Community College.

James R. Corson Scholarship 
The James R. Corson Scholarship is one scholarship of $750 and is awarded during the Annual Convention. To be eligible, students must be a graduate of a four-year college or university and be attending or planning to attend Des Moines Area Community College.

Bruce Overton Scholarship 
The Bruce Overton Scholarship is one scholarship of $500 and is awarded during the Annual Convention. To be eligible, students must meet the above requirements and have completed four years at an accredited college or university and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree or a Bachelor of Sciences degree.

Susan L. Mitchell Scholarship
The Susan L. Mitchell Scholarship is one scholarship of $500 and is awarded during the Annual Convention. To be eligible, students must meet the above requirements and have been enrolled in the mortuary science program at Des Moines Area Community College.

The Scholarship foundation trust awards two (2) $3,000 scholarships per year to qualifying applicants. The student must be a resident of the State of Kentucky for at least the last two (2) immediately proceeding years. Must agree to work in the state for at least two years following issuance of license, must agree to repay the award if fail to meet requirements or are no longer enrolled in school.
