Legal Update: Injunction Lifted on Corporate Transparency Act February 20, 2025 by Christopher Farmer, NFDA General Counsel A federal court in Texas has lifted its nationwide injunction, which halted the filing of beneficial ownership information collection under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). At this time, even though other courts are reviewing challenges to the Act, the CTA is no longer enjoined and the filing deadlines are expected to be renewed. At this moment, FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) has not updated its website and has not issued any revised deadlines. However, last week, the House passed bipartisan legislation to extend the reporting deadline to January 1, 2026; the bill now moves to the Senate. NFDA Advocacy has been working closely with Congress on this issue as part of a larger business coalition and actively supported passage of this legislation.
