Earlier this year, Selected Educational Trust opened its 2022 Spring Cycle Second-Career Scholarship Program, sponsored by Gunderson Funeral Home, Madison, Wisconsin, and two additional memorial scholarships in honor of Mark L. Justen and Michael R. St. Pierre. Applications were accepted until May 31 for these scholarships, which totaled $5,000 and were awarded in June.

“We are so deeply grateful to Gunderson Funeral Home for their generous support of this program and deeply humbled to be able to offer these memorial scholarships,” said Stefanie Favia, senior director of development with the trust. “The trust has been privileged to have awarded 52 second-career scholarships totaling $73,000 to mortuary science students who have chosen to enter this time-honored profession as a second career. Without support of our generous donors and sponsors, these scholarships would not be possible.”

The Second-Career Scholarship Program is designed exclusively for individuals who aspire to work as a funeral director as a second career. Scholarships are awarded in June and December of each year. For eligibility requirements and to apply, visit selectedtrust.org/second-career-scholarship.
