Leo John Petrik

Retired funeral director and embalmer, Topeka, Kansas, died November 4, 2013, at age 98. Petrik worked in a funeral home in Blackwell, Oklahoma, before attending Williams Institute of Embalming in Kansas City, graduating in 1939. He had worked at a funeral home in Wichita before moving to Topeka, worked at Eslinger Funeral Home as a funeral director and embalmer and then in 1942 joined Parker Mortuary, where he worked until 1998. Petrik, who had been honored by the Kansas Funeral Directors Association, was also a member of Golden Rule Lodge #90, AF&AM, Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and Helena Chapter #210, O.E.S. He is survived by wife Elizabeth, stepson Charles, stepdaughters Pat and Marjorie, a nephew, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
