Maxwell Clyde Frain

owner of Frain Mortuary, Winamac, Indiana, and past president of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association, died May 17, 2012, at age 84. Frain took a job driving the ambulance for Kennedy Funeral Home in 1950 and worked for Fry and Lange Funeral Home following graduation from Indiana College of Mortuary Science. He became a licensed funeral director in 1954 and continued to work until his death. With his wife, he purchased Fry and Lange Funeral Home in 1969 and in 1976 changed the name to Frain Mortuary. He was recognized, with sons Dan and Sam, as the first IFDA family to produce three presidents of the association. Frain was a member of the Pulaski County Red Cross and spent 12 years as a school board member for the Winamac Schools and Eastern Pulaski School Corporation. He also served several years as Pulaski County deputy coroner. He is survived by wife Nila Jean; daughter Kathleen; sons Daniel, James and Samuel; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
