NFDA Cremation Certification Program Coming to Maryland, Michigan and Georgia in March

With the increasing rate of cremation, it's more important than ever for you to be fully prepared to serve families that choose cremation. NFDA's Certified Crematory Operator (CCO) Program was developed for all funeral professionals – not just operators. NFDA highly encourages funeral directors who use a third-party crematory to earn their certification so they will have a thorough understanding of their legal and ethical obligations during the entire cremation process, from the moment they take a decedent into their care, until they return the cremated remains to the family. Join NFDA for CCO certification seminars on March 6 in Maryland, March 11 in Michigan and March 19 in Georgia.

The NFDA CCO program is taught by two licensed funeral directors and covers everything you need to know in order to knowledgably and ethically provide cremation services to families. Topics that are covered include:

  • Cremation ethics
  • Serving cremation families
  • Written authorizations
  • Cremation process and procedures
  • Shipping cremated remains
  • Liability and risk avoidance
  • Public and community relations
