Congress Back Open for Business in 2023 November 28, 2022 Earlier this month, Republican House Leader Kevin McCarthy sent a letter stating his intention to reopen the Capitol Complex on January 3, 2023. This means NFDA members will, once again, be able to gather in-person for the Advocacy Summit and meet with their members of Congress. The Advocacy Summit is scheduled for April 19-21, 2023. “We can’t wait to see NFDA members from across the country in our nation’s capital for the 2023 Advocacy Summit,” said NFDA Senior Vice President, Advocacy Lesley Witter. “What many members don’t realize is just how much their voice matters. Members of Congress really to listen to their constituents. When funeral directors urge their elected senators and representatives to support pro-funeral service legislation, it makes a tremendous difference in moving bills forward and getting them passed. Please mark your calendars so you can join your colleagues in Washington, D.C., in April 2023.” In his letter, which you can read here, McCarthy called on individuals who are responsible for security and the physical operation of the U.S. Capitol building to develop plans to ensure a safe return and reopening.
