Call for Candidates Opens January 2 January 18, 2018 NFDA is seeking applicants for open seats on the Board of Directors for the 2018-19 leadership year, which begins at the conclusion of the 2018 NFDA International Convention & Expo. Open positions are: president-elect (one-year term), treasurer (one-year term), secretary (one-year term) and two (2) at-large representatives (two-year terms). The president-elect, after completing his or her term, automatically succeeds to the office of the president. The Board of Directors plays a critical role in determining the strategic direction of the association so that NFDA can fulfill its mission: NFDA is the worldwide source of expertise and professional resources for all facets of funeral service. Through education, information and advocacy, NFDA is dedicated to supporting members in their mission to provide families with meaningful end-of-life services at the highest levels of excellence and integrity. Beginning tomorrow, January 2, NFDA will have information on its website, www.nfda.org/elections, covering: Board of Directors responsibilities and composition Position descriptions, including specific requirements and expectations for each role Leadership commitment to NFDA’s mission, values and vision Nomination and election process Candidate guidelines Application form We encourage all NFDA members to view this information so you can better understand the important role of the Board of Directors and the men and women who serve in these leadership roles; this information will be important as you evaluate qualified candidates and prepare to vote in summer 2017. If you are interested in becoming a candidate, NFDA urges you to review the election information and submit a completed application by 5 p.m. CT on February 1, 2018, to be considered by the NFDA Leadership Development Committee for an open position. The Leadership Development Committee will announce their list of qualified candidates by March 1, 2018. The Policy Board will elect the at-large representatives during their meeting in July 2018. Qualified NFDA members will have the opportunity to vote for the association’s officers (secretary, treasurer, and president-elect) August 1-14, 2018. Qualified NFDA member firms (main locations) receive two votes (as cast by the primary contact) and qualified individual members receive one vote to elect the candidate of choice for the 2018-19 NFDA President-elect, Treasurer and Secretary.
