Environmental Compliance

Funeral directors, like other owners and operators of businesses in the United States, are required to meet the environmental requirements established by federal, state, and local agencies that apply to their businesses. Requirements applicable to funeral homes include those that govern wastewater discharge and the handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, such as those included in embalming fluids.

The following materials are intended to assist and guide NFDA members in understanding and complying with the environmental laws.
