Robert G. Brothers

Founder and funeral director, Knox and Brothers Funeral Home, Maysville, Kentucky, died July 18, 2013, at age 73. Brothers served in the U.S. Army Reserves, being discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. A graduate of Kentucky School of Embalming, he formerly worked for Porter and Clay Funeral Home before founding Brothers Funeral Home with his parents. In 1980, he merged Brothers Funeral Home with Knox Funeral Home, forming Knox and Brothers Funeral Home, which joined the Keystone Group of funeral homes in 1997. Since 2010, the firm has been owned by Service Corporation International. Brothers was a member of NFDA, the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky and the Kentucky State Coroner’s Association, where he earned the title master coroner. Brothers served as Mason County coroner since 1999 and had previously served as coroner in the early 1960s. He is survived by wife Vicki, daughters Cynthia and Shawn, sons Jacob and Russ and five grandchildren.
