Harvey F. Schmidt

former co-operator of Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, Wisconsin, died October 28, 2012, at age 93. Schmidt served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman in World War II. He attended Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1940. Schmidt was also co-operator of Schmidt Floor Covering and worked for Meyer-Hughes as a floor-covering estimator. He also managed Bay View Linoleum Company for a number of years. In 1957, he opened the Candlwick Lounge in Hartford and co-owned the Schmidtselhaus in West Bend. He also volunteered for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He is survived by wife Mavis; children Kathleen, Harvey and Eileen; stepchildren Karen, Thomas and Bryan; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
