William T. “Bill” Olson

owner of Olson Funeral Home, Bloomer, Wisconsin, died October 17, 2012, at age 85. Olson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He attended mortuary school and worked as a funeral director in Osceola, Madison and Waterloo before moving to Bloomer in 1951 to work for Henry Werner. In 1954, Olson purchased the business and it became Olson Funeral Home. He was a founding member of the Bloomer Chamber of Commerce, Bloomer IDC and served on the Visionary Committee for Bloomer Hospital. Olson served in leadership roles in many organizations, including the Bloomer American Legion, Lions Club and Kiwanis. He is survived by wife Alice, son David, daughter Debbie, six grandchildren and two (soon to be four) great-grandchildren.
