Charles A. “Chuck” O’Brien

Green Bay, Wisconsin, funeral director, died September 7, 2012, at age 79. O’Brien enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in the Grave Registration Department until his honorable discharge in 1955. He moved to Chicago, completed his degree in mortuary science and then accepted a job at Pflanz Funeral Home in Portage, Wisconsin. O’Brien worked at numerous funeral homes before purchasing Coad Funeral Home in Green Bay. He then acquired an interest in Findeisen-Greiser Funeral Home, which became O’Brien, Greiser & Coad Funeral Homes. Coad was later sold and he acquired the remaining interest in Findeisen-Greiser. Through his funeral homes, O’Brien also served the needs of Green Bay’s Jewish and Hmong communities. Nearing retirement, he sold the funeral home to Schauer & Schumacher, staying on to help them, as well as helping out at Hansen Funeral Services. He is survived by wife Carol, daughters Kathryn and Theresa, and two grandchildren.
