founder and owner of Estelle J. Wilson Funeral Home Inc., New Orleans, Louisiana, died July 10, 2012, at age 89. Wilson also established Central City Mortuary in 1964, which now holds about 200 funerals a year. She was a member of the Crescent City Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, the Louisiana State Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Crescent City Funeral Directors and Morticians Association. Last year, Wilson received the Distinguished Service Award from the New Orleans Embalmers Association and was named a Living Legend this year by 100 Black Women of Funeral Service. She is survived by daughter Betty, son Darrell, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
