funeral director and embalmer with Summers Funeral Home Inc., Ocala, Florida, died July 18, 2012, at age 91. Shelton was a nurse, graduating in 1952 from Montifield Hospital School of Nursing. After working in the hospital for a few years, she returned to Ocala to help her aunt, D.J. Brown, owner of D.J. Brown Funeral Home, run the business. She later attended New York School of Embalming and McAllister Institution of Funeral Services. Upon receiving both degrees, Shelton became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1969. Following its opening in 1986, she worked for Summers Funeral home and was a mother figure to owner Alvis D. Summers. She is survived by cousins Emerson Brown and Jacquelyn Brown Shelton.
