Richard Oliver Gilliam

retired vice president and partner of White-Ranson Funeral Home, Union City, Tennessee, died August 7, 2012, at age 84. Gilliam began his career at Casey Funeral Home in Henderson, Tennessee, in the 1940s and served as a funeral professional for more than 50 years. He became an employee of White-Ranson in 1949 and worked there for 43 years, until his retirement in 1992. Gilliam was a veteran of both the U.S. Merchant Marine Corps and the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a former member and past president of the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association, past president of the Union City Rotary Club and Paul Harris fellow, and was named Union City Jaycees Young Man of the Year in 1954. Gilliam was also a board member of the Obion County Cancer Agency. He is survived by brother Benny and sister Edna.
