Carlson received an associate degree from CCSU and worked as a licensed funeral director for 29 years, retiring in 2009. She was a member of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association and NFDA. She is survived by husband Kent, sons Erik and James, daughters Kimberly and Karalyn, and seven grandchildren.
