Franklin Eugene Yates

funeral director in Indiana for more than 50 years, died May 9, 2011, at age 80. Yates was a senior air traffic specialist with the 35th Air Transport Squadron of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and a graduate of Indiana School of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis. He began his career in funeral service at Jordan Funeral Home in Indiana and has since been associated with several Harrodsburg-area funeral homes, including Glave Sims Funeral Home, Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home, Ransdell & Yates Funeral Home, Yates Funeral Home (which he owned and operated), Stith Funeral Home, Beasley & Rainey Funeral Home, Spurlin Funeral Home, Ransdell Funeral Chapel and Sims Funeral Services. He was also an independent locksmith and owner of Gene’s Lock and Key Service. He is survived by wife Gloria, sons Dan and Mark, and four grandchildren.
