chairman of the board of Holloway Funeral Home P.A., Salisbury, Maryland, died February 5, 2011, at age 82. Holloway graduated from Eckels College of Mortuary Science and served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan, during the Korean War. He returned from military service and earned his license in 1954, joining his father and grandfather in the family business. In 1980, his two sons joined the business as fourth-generation funeral directors. They purchased the former Melson Funeral Home in Pocomoke City in 1997 and completed a new facility in Pocomoke City in 2010.
Holloway was a past president of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce; life member, Melvin Jones Fellow and past president of the Salisbury Lions Club, board member of the Salisbury University Foundation; and a legacy society member of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. With his wife, Marianna, Holloway received the Distinguished Citizen Award of the Tri County District, Boy Scouts of America in 1995 and the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Community Service and Contributions Award in 2005.
He was a member and national board member of Selected Independent Funeral Homes and a member and past president of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association and the Delmarva Funeral Directors Association. He also became a certified funeral service practitioner.
He is survived by sons Walter and John and two grandchildren.
