Richard Adam Heintzelman

president of Heintzelman Funeral Home, Schnecksville and Hellertown, Pennsylvania, died November 13, 2011, at age 81. Heintzelman graduated from Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia and was licensed in 1953. He began his career with his aunt and uncle at the Walter S. Bard Funeral Home in Schnecksville. Upon their deaths, he became the sole proprietor from 1958-96 and renamed the business Richard A. Heintzelman Funeral Home. In 1996, his business merged with his son’s funeral home in Hellertown and both became known by the current name. He was a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, which in 2003 recognized him for 50 years as a funeral director. He earned the Melvin Jones Fellow award for his humanitarian service from The Lions Club International Foundation and was a life member of Community Fire Co. #1 in Schnecksville and Goodwill Fire Co. #1 in Germansville. He is survived by wife Jean, sons Robert and David, and seven grandchildren.
