Ford served Milwaukee County for 25 years as the first African-American deputy sheriff and was a licensed funeral director for more than 50 years. He was one of the charter members of Delta Chi Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the Milwaukee YMCA’s Men’s Social Club.
