owner and operator of G.T. Eakes Funeral Home, Oxford and Creedmoor, North Carolina, died January 14, 2012, at age 80. Daniel served in the U.S. Air Force, attended Dallas Institute – Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science and began working for G.T. Eakes Funeral Home in 1956 as a licensed funeral director. He was also a member of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department. In 1985, he bought the funeral homes in Oxford and Creedmoor and has continued operating both branches with his family. He was currently serving as chairman of the Oxford Planning Board. He is survived by wife Mary Anne, daughter Lynn, son Charles, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
